Why Birmingham
2013? (by Denis Noble). It is a huge privilege for
physiologists in the UK to have the opportunity to welcome our
international colleagues from all the 50 or so member societies of IUPS,
and from countries that are not yet members, to come to the Congress in
2013. more
To The Physiological Society of Japan.
Coming so soon after the disastrous New Zealand earthquake that ravaged
the city of our 2001 Congress, IUPS Council is deeply distressed to
learn of the even larger earthquake that has so seriously damaged our
most recent host nation, Japan. The fact that the host city, Kyoto, was
not in the firing line is only small comfort. Many must have been lost
in Sendai and elsewhere in the North East of Japan. We all treasure
memories of the superb Kyoto meeting, and we send our deep condolences
to our physiological colleagues in Japan mourning the ravages of the
largest Japanese earthquake for 1200 years. IUPS Council
From IUPS Council to NZ Physiological Society. IUPS
Council recalls with great pleasure the huge success of the 2001
Congress in Christchurch. The devastation and loss of life in the
earthquake is shocking anyway, as these events are anywhere in the
world. To that shock there is the added poignancy of our own beautiful
memories of 2001. We send deep feelings to our NZ colleagues in this
time of great sadness. Denis Noble, IUPS President on behalf of all
the IUPS Council members

IMPORTANT
The
Long Range Planning Committee
has been established by the Council in April 2005. The committee has
worked during the past three years to prepare the report which was
reviewed with Council at their meeting in December 2007. We now would
like to present it to you the member societies of our Union. Several of
the recommendations have already been implemented or will be in the near
future, but there are others that will be further discussed at the next
Council meeting and presented to the 2009 General Assembly for approval
prior to implementation...
