Call for Nominations for 2022-2025 IUPS Council

The IUPS Nominations Committee has re-opened the Call for Nominations for IUPS Council.

In mid-March, the Nominations Committee of the International Union of Physiological Sciences contacted the physiological community to solicit a slate of candidates for the IUPS Council. This was just as our daily routines were impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result of the pandemic, the IUPS and the Chinese Association for Physiological Sciences postponed the 2021 IUPS Congress to May 7-11, 2022. As a result, the Nominations Committee has re-opened the call for candidates for IUPS Council.

Nominees are needed for the following positions on IUPS Council:

  • President
  • Secretary-General
  • Treasurer
  • 1st Vice President
  • 2nd Vice President
  • Council Members (11) to serve as Chairs of Commissions and Committees
  • Council Members (4) to serve as Regional Representatives

A brief description of the IUPS Council membership is attached. Please encourage qualified individuals to become an engaged ambassador to physiologists across the globe by serving in one of these roles on the IUPS Council.

The Nominating Committee plans to complete the nominating process during the second quarter of 2021 and will then post the full slate of candidates on the IUPS website. Elections will be held by the General Assembly at the XXXIX IUPS Congress in Beijing, China in May 2022. Council members and officers will serve until the following Congress in 2025.

The Executive Committee (ExCo) is responsible for managing the day-to-day business of the Union. The officers of the Union constituting the ExCo are:

In keeping with the purposes of the Union, the Commissions and Committees are responsible for encouraging the advancement of the physiological sciences by fostering and encouraging research and development in the field of physiological sciences, and by promoting the Union’s Congresses and other meetings and contributing to their programming.
