IUPS Congress

Invitation from the President of IUPS
Fellow physiologists, colleagues, and students, Happy New Year to you all.
At this time of the year when we are making plans for 2022, I would like to take this opportunity to ask you to mark May 7-11, 2022 on your calendar for the 39th IUPS Congress in Beijing, China.
The quadrennial IUPS congress is a flagship meeting and one of most significant scientific events for physiologists. It serves not only as a venue for scientific exchange and intellectual communications among peers, but also the showcase to publicise the significance of physiology as an important discipline in contemporary medicine.
We had expected that the IUPS Congress in 2022 could be an ideal starting point to resume in-person scientific exchange and to discuss most recent results with fellow colleagues. However, because the recent surge of omicron variant of covid-19, IUPS was forced, for the first time ever in our history, to change the upcoming Congress to a virtual online format.
This poses challenges to IUPS and our colleagues in the host society of the Chinese Association for Physiological Sciences. Nevertheless, by working together with the international scientific program committee, we have prepared attractive scientific programs to ensure that high quality science will be presented at the meeting. A typical daily program includes Plenary and Keynote Lectures, symposia and workshops, poster presentation and online exhibition. To make the online IUPS Congress participant friendly, CAPS will make adjustment on daily schedules to accommodate participation of attendees from different countries in as many different time zones as possible.
To encourage the participations of young faculty members, graduate students and trainees, IUPS offers virtual travel scholarship in the form of full waiver on online registration fee to selected posters. I strongly encourage qualified members to submit your abstracts for the Congress and apply for the travel scholarship. Deadline for abstract submission and travel award application is February 28th. Until then everybody can register at the lower early bird registration fees.
A virtual IUPS Congress is unprecedented to all of us. Working together with CAPS, IUPS is committed to organizing a high quality meeting. Therefore, I cordially invite you to join your fellow physiologists, colleagues, and peers to experience this new format of IUPS Congress and enjoy the new horizon of cyber networking.
