The 43rd General Academic Congress of the Korean Medical Association (KMA) was held in Seoul on July 10–11, 2026.

At the invitation of Professor Taegwoo Kim, President of the Korean Medical Association, Professor Yoshihiro Kubo, President of IUPS, delivered a lecture on site at a session organized by the Korean Association of Basic Medical Sciences on the theme “Advancing Basic Medical Sciences: The Foundation of Essential Healthcare.”

His lecture, entitled “Promoting Basic Medical Sciences and Fostering the Next Generation: Lessons from NIPS, Japan, and IUPS” highlighted the current challenges facing basic medical sciences and discussed strategies for strengthening the field and fostering the next generation of researchers globally.

Professor Kubo also had the opportunity to exchange views with representatives of the medical associations of the World, the United States, Korea, and Japan.
