The IUPS Beacon Symposium 2026 was successfully held in Okazaki, Japan, on September 15–16, 2026, bringing together 105 participants from Japan and around the world. The symposium was co-hosted by the National Institute for Physiological Sciences (NIPS), Japan, and the Organizing Committee was chaired by Professor Kazuhiro Nakamura of Nagoya University.
The symposium brought together 14 invited speakers, including 7 from overseas, and 91 general participants, including 50 from overseas. Participants came from China, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Korea, Pakistan, Russia, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, the USA, and Viet Nam (Region/ Country). Among all participants, 44 were students
Notably, the symposium featured as many as 69 poster presentations. Both the lecture and poster sessions generated lively and in-depth discussions among the participants. IUPS provided travel grants to 15 overseas participants and 7 domestic participants, helping to facilitate broad participation, particularly by early-career researchers and students.
The symposium highlighted an important message for the future of our field: Physiology is borderless—across disciplines, generations, and regions!
